This special charity event organized annually in early April by Nicosia Golf Club has been established as one of the premium events on the golfing calander in Cyprus.

The event is ideally placed as a prelude to the Cyprus Amateur Men's Open Championship.

Fields of over 80 participants are attractyed every year and is well attended by spectators and dignitaries from all over Cyprus.

The Special Olympics Cyprus Open 2006 was under the auspicies of International Olympic Committee Member and President of Laiki Group, Mr. Kikis Lazarides.

From 2007 on the event has been designated as one of four major competitions on the Cyprus Golf Federation's calendar and will be organised jointly between Nicosia Golf Club and the Cyprus Golf Federation.

All proceeds from the event are in aid of Special Olympics Cyprus.

Special Olympics Cyprus Open 2011 will be held at Aphrodite Hills GC on June 19, 2011.
